Hello Campowerment Campers!
I had so much fun drumming with you on Friday night. Being a part of this magical weekend was an honor for me.
I encourage you to nurture your inner drummer and continue to play in any way that serves you.
The drums that you played on were called djembe drums and frame drums. If you are interested in acquiring a frame drum, this is a good place to start. Djembe drums are the larger wooden drums and you can find them in many sizes. I recommend something like this drum shown here.
The story that I shared with you about women being the drummers in ancient Mediterranean cultures was inspired by the work of Layne Redmond. Her website, www.layneredmond.com has information and you can purchase the book there too, it’s a great easy read.
Please keep Path To Rhythm in mind for events in your community or workplace. As you experienced first-hand, drumming together is a unique way to build community and connection while having fun making music. We work with children at summer camps and schools, and entertain at birthday parties. We also work with adults at conferences, retreats and special events.
Let’s stay connected! If you put your name and email in the big red box in the upper right corner of this page, you will join my monthly newsletter where I share tips, stories, resources and information to help you and your community live a fuller life enriched with music making.
Best Wishes,
Adam Issadore
